Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers

Dwayne (Dopsie) Rubin is the son of the “King of Zydeco,” Alton Rubin Sr. (aka Rockin’ Dopsie). Born March 3rd 1979, Dwayne Dopsie was raised in Lafayette, Louisiana where he grew up listening to and playing zydeco music. At the age of four, he played the washboard like his brother, David, “Rockin’ Dopsie Jr.”, but soon he picked up the accordion and followed in his father’s footsteps.

After traveling the zydeco circuit with his family, at the age of nineteen, Dwayne started his own band and has continued in the family tradition of entertaining. Some highlights of his career (besides entertaining with his dad), were a Community Coffee commercial at the age of six, as well as a stint on The Dolly Parton Show. Another extraordinary moment was with his father and brother performing at Super Bowl 24. Dwayne Dopsie has performed on CBS This Morning, The Travel Channel, Discovery, 20/20, Good Morning America and The Fox Television Network.
